About the Curriculum
The literature and creative writing curriculum was originally created by Patti Gray Dunkin for Dunkin Educational Services, Inc. and has been used for over thirty-nine years in twenty U.S. states and eleven different countries. The curriculum is a comprehensive approach to learning and is written with an understanding of educational taxonomy of learning with a goal toward evaluation through the grid of Scripture.
The writing curriculum was developed by Christine through her experience helping to develop and prepare college-bound writers, as well as working with college students to correct, clarify, and fine-tune their writing. The curriculum teaches both the objective rules of writing and the subjective elements that each writer uniquely incorporates into his or her writing. Christine takes a personal approach by encouraging students in their strengths and by addressing their individual style and tendencies so that they can improve upon their writing and communication skills.
Educational Approach
In all that we do, we are called to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. As an educator, Christine strives to prepare and present the material in a clear, organized manner that will capture students’ interest while promoting truth and magnifying the beauty in God’s grand design. Christine incorporates visual and auditory elements in her lesson plans, and students have the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity through their writing and by preparing class projects for presentation.
It is Christine’s hope that students will enjoy the topic of study and that they will be encouraged as they experience the learning process and personal improvement that comes through application of instruction and diligent work. She does not expect perfection from her students, but in accordance with Colossians 3:17, she does expect them to do their best for God’s glory. He has made them with good brains and the ability to work hard, and it is her goal to equip and encourage her students to reach their full potential while providing a safe, positive atmosphere for learning.
